Montblanc Haus in Hamburg: Destination for School Trips & Families

DISCOVER THE JOY OF WRITING & PERSONAL EXPRESSION

Let's make learning inspiring. At MONTBLANC HAUS, writing and design come alive in a high-quality educational environment. Through hands-on exploration, students discover the cultural impact of handwriting and craftsmanship by examining objects, comparing typefaces, and capturing their observations along the way.

School groups from grades 5–13 explore the Home of Writing in dedicated rally formats, introductory tours or themed tours with specific assignments:

  • Writing as a key competence
  • Rallies through the unique INSPIRE WRITING exhibition
  • Interactive tours for grades 5–13 and vocational schools
  • Creative workshops in smaller groups
  • Themed tours with individual areas of focus

Rallye Format

The rally enables independent exploration through clear prompts and tasks. It is based on self-directed activity, observation, and individual prioritization.

Grade 5–7

The rally for grades 5–7 invites pupils to discover their own ideas, their means of expression and their view of the world. It shows how simple thoughts can give rise to products, symbols and stories – and what quality and design have to do with it. At its heart, it’s about getting creative yourself and seeing things more consciously.

Grade 8–13

The rally combines personal forms of expression with the big questions of our time: meaning, identity, value and impact. It shows how cultural references emerge from objects, texts and brands – and asks what we ourselves stand for. At its heart, it is about the mark we leave behind.

Guided Tour

The tour provides orientation and context.  It establishes a shared framework of knowledge and lays the foundation for in-depth exploration. Content, areas of focus, and time allocations can be adapted to the age, prior knowledge, and interests of the learning group.

Grade 5–7

An interactive guided tour featuring active sessions, designed to explore the exhibition and the key themes of the learning centre together with the pupils.

  • Discovering one’s own ideas and ways of expressing oneself
  • Understanding how products, names and symbols come about
  • Recognising quality, design and differences
  • Consciously observing and questioning things

Grade 8–13

A dialogue-based guided tour that explores the exhibition, its themes and the key questions of the learning space together with the pupils. Active sessions and targeted prompts encourage pupils to engage with the material themselves.

  • Reflecting on one’s own forms of expression and identity
  • Understanding how meaning, brands and design emerge
  • Questioning quality, value and sustainability
  • Putting impact, responsibility and perspective into context

VISIT WITH CHILDREN

At MONTBLANC HAUS, we aim to inspire all age groups to write – even the youngest. With a reoccurring workshop series, experimental calligraphy classes and book presentations, children are invited to discover their own handwriting in a playful way.

Quiz Rally for Children Ages 6 to 12

Inspire writing from the very beginning: The MONTBLANC HAUS is for everyone – including the youngest visitors.

With our children’s rally, 6- to 12-year-olds can explore the INSPIRE WRITING exhibition independently and interactively. Age-appropriate questions introduce them to the world of writing, while creative activities featuring characters from Sesame Street invite them to get involved.

Available at the reception. Admission is free for children aged 12 and under. Accompanying adults require a ticket for the exhibition.
